Raising Awareness For Brain Injury Month

Every March, the Brain Injury Association of America leads the nation in observing Brain Injury Awareness Month, with the goal of educating others on what it is like to live with these devastating injuries.

Around 3.6 million people in the United States sustain some form of brain injury each year. These injuries are among the leading causes of death and disability.

There are two main types of brain injuries: Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). An ABI is diagnosed after birth. A TBI is an external force that causes a change in brain function.

In an effort to spread more awareness and shine a light on those living with brain injuries, but don’t allow their disabilities to define their lives, this year’s theme is “More Than My Brain Injury”.

At Cyrano, we believe excellent work deserves recognition. Using videos to highlight patients’ experiences and appreciation for the neurologists can be a great way to bring both awareness and recognition.

Use the #MoreThanMyBrainInjury on social media to share stories about overcoming the challenges of living with a brain injury or to show your support! The PDF below can be found here.
